Item up for sale is an absolutely incredible rarity titled \" The Port of Baltimore in the Making 1828 - 1878 \" by T. Courtenay J. Whedbee. This book was privately published in 1953 by F. Bowie Smith & Son, Inc of Baltimore that operated a notable lumber and wood treatment business in the Port of Baltimore. This book was published as a 25th anniversary memento to be given to valued clients in celebration of the occasion and thus was never released for sale to the general public. Text was taken from a senior thesis submitted by the Author to the Department of History of Princeton University.Book exhibits only light, age appropriate soiling and patina to cover boards and spine with light wear around edges and corners all consistent with age, use and shelf wear. Book has 100 numbered pages with a selection of black and white non numbered photographs in the back of the book. Binding is tight with all pages showing yellowing to varying degrees with some pages showing some brown spotting / foxing to page surfaces all consistent with age and use. Book measures 9-1/4\" top to bottom by 6-1/4\" wide by 0-3/4\" thick.Incredible book that comes fresh to the market from a recent estate buyout.
