The iconic Trava pendant light, designed by Swedish designer Sigurd Lindkvist under the name Carl Thore for Granhaga Metallindustri in the 1960s. One of the most recognisable Scandinavian lighting designs of the period, the Trava is defined by its sculptural, layered construction and carefully controlled light distribution. This version features four stepped aluminium shades, combining black lacquered and copper-plated surfaces. The individual cylindrical layers overlap to conceal the light source while allowing light to reflect softly between the shades, creating the warm, atmospheric glow characteristic of Carl Thore’s designs. The combination of geometric proportions, metallic finishes and concealed illumination gives the lamp a distinctly Scandinavian Space Age character, while the restrained construction keeps it firmly rooted in Mid-Century Modern design. The compact 30 cm diameter makes it particularly versatile above a dining table, bedside table, reading corner or smaller seating area.A highly collectible example of Carl Thore’s work for Granhaga Metallindustri, this original vintage pendant retains its period materials and finish. The lamp is in good vintage condition, with some scratches, surface wear and natural patina consistent with its age. These signs of use remain visible and form part of its vintage character.Details:
