Kreiss Corporation was a giftware company founded by brothers Aaron and Murray Kreiss in California during the mid-twentieth century. They designed whimsical novelty ceramics, figurines, and banks, which were manufactured under their direction in factories overseas, particularly in Japan. These pieces combined hand-painted details with playful motifs, capturing the optimistic consumer spirit of post-war domestic life.Families used these decorative coin banks during the holiday season to save spare change for gifts and festivities. They were placed on tabletops or mantels in living rooms as both functional savings containers and festive home decorations. Eventually, as home decor trends shifted away from novelty ceramics, production of these whimsical holiday banks ceased, leaving them as cherished seasonal keepsakes.
