Here is an old sword that I have had for many years. I purchased it at a local collectibles sale. I believe it to be an 1840 pattern sword for noncommissioned officers. It is missing the brass knuckle bow which has been broken out & the tip is bent. The blade has turned to a brown patina. There are the initials N. C. S. T. on the sword hand guard. I have been told that this stands for North Carolina State Troop.
