Antique 19th C. Nepalese Kora Sword 27+\" Heavy Gurkha Battle Axe Fighting Weapon For Sale

This antique 19th C. Nepalese Kora Sword is a heavy Gurkha battle axe fighting weapon that showcases a 23\" curved blade made of steel. With a handle size of 5-1/4\" and crafted of iron, this original piece from Nepal features a silver and black color scheme. This unique sickle-type sword is a valuable collectible for enthusiasts of knives, swords, and other collectible blades.

Blade etchings feature warriors, elephants, a lion, leaves and other figures.

Instead of a traditional Nepalese kora handle, this sword is fitted with an Indo-Persian \"Pistol-Grip\" style hilt made of cast iron or steel.

• The Design: The handle features prominent side quillons at the guard (the ears curving out where the blade meets the handle) and a deeply hooked pommel.

• Faint Engravings: Looking closely at the spine of the grip, there are faint, worn-down floral engravings matching the style of the blade.

The Hybrid Nature: While the blade is distinctively a Kora, fitting it with this specific Indo-Persian style pistol grip strongly indicates it may have been manufactured in Northern India (such as Rajasthan) rather than Nepal, where artisans frequently blended regional blade shapes with Indian hilt styles.

Blade shows some rust marks, but overall this is a solid, highly valuable and collectible relic.
