Antique 34\" Knights of Pythias Sword & Scabbard Fluted Bone Grip Knight Pommel For Sale

Antique 19th Century American Fraternal Militia 34\" Sword & Scabbard

Up for sale is a beautifully preserved, 19th-century American fraternal organization or community militia ceremonial dress sword. This wonderful piece measures 34 inches overall when housed in its matching original all-metal scabbard, which features dual-ring hanging mounts.

Featuring iconic design markers tied directly to late 19th-century secret societies and uniform rank infantries—most notably the Knights of Pythias—this piece is an outstanding survivor of Victorian-era American history.

Key Visual & Structural Attributes:

-Overall Length: 34 inches long when fully sheathed inside the scabbard.

- Hilt Assembly: Features a deeply grooved (reeded) authentic bovine bone grip handle that shows an attractive cream-colored aged patina.

-Knight Helmet Pommel: Solid cast-brass pommel sculpted as a detailed plumed medieval/Roman knight helmet crowning the grip.

-Ornate Crossguard: A spectacular cast-brass straight guard decorated with elegant floral relief patterns, completed by a symbolic centralized wheel/shield medallion on the langet.

-The straight, double-edged steel blade fits beautifully inside the hilt and if carefully viewed, near the ricasso, under the guard, you can see a provenance mark there of \"GERMANY\"

-Original Scabbard: Metal scabbard matching the sword perfectly. Retains its distinct decorative throat mount, solid center band, dual suspension rings for belt-hanger attachments, and drag. There is some oxidation and signs of cleaning on it in places, some marks and spots. Overall it\'s still in beautiful condition.

Condition:

This sword is in very good antique condition for its age. All hilt components are present and accounted for. The antique bone handle core is intact without major structural splits or chips. The metal surfaces exhibit some historical patina with superficial oxidation and minor spotting typical of authentic 19th-century metalware, the sword may have been cleaned professionally by someone at one time, but I\'m unsure exactly. Please closely inspect the high-resolution photographs to independently verify the exceptional state of preservation.
