Very delicate antique honeycomb paper Valentine from the 1920s. The mechanical pull tab still reveals the hidden egg when gently pulled. Made by Beistle in the USA. Canadian patent pending 1926. Measures 7 1/2 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Because of the fragile nature of early honeycomb paper decorations, there have been several small repairs: • The pull-tab section has been carefully reattached • The small cardboard side tabs that hold the honeycomb nest open have been reinforced • Minor paper separations consistent with age are present The mechanical feature still works, though it must be held open rather than staying extended on its own. This is a display piece and should be handled gently due to the fragile honeycomb paper construction. Despite the repairs, it remains a charming and very clever early Beistle Easter Card. It’s extremely clever and beautiful. The birds look so sweet sitting in their nest shows a very great deal of ingenuity. Made by The Beistle Company in the USA. Canadian patent pending 1926. Ships carefully packed with tissue support to protect the honeycomb paper.
