Scarce Coors pottery Malted Milk advertising ashtray from the Prohibition era The piece features impressed "Coors Malted Milk Golden" on edge with cow heads and wheat design Dark green glaze Measures 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" Very good antique condition . The identical piece is part of the Golden History Museum, Golden Colorado, permanent collection and can be seen on their website. The object number is 1989.065. The museum states " Coors Brewing Company entered the malted milk business during the years of Prohibition. It seemed a natural choice since the production of malted milk used the same processes and equipment as the production of malted barley for brewing beer. Adolph Coors Jr. convinced the Mars Candy Company to choose Coors as its main supplier of malted milk, a deal that saves the company."
