Antique Griswold “The Erie Fluter” cast iron fluting iron, dating to the late 19th century. This type of iron was used to create and refresh decorative ruffles, pleats, and fluted fabric treatments on clothing and trim.
Marked 297 on the underside of the base. Features the distinctive detachable curved handle, decorative cast design, and corrugated fluting surfaces. Measures approximately 5.5 inches long and 4.5 inches tall.
Condition: Very good antique condition with expected age-related wear, patina, and light surface oxidation. Portions of the original gold-toned bronzed finish remain visible on the cast iron, particularly in the recessed decorative areas. The fluting surfaces, base, and detachable handle are all present and intact. No cracks or major breaks observed. Please review all photos closely for condition and details.
