Antique Hand-Lettered Psalm 23 ("A Psalme of David") in Original Solid Hardwood Frame
Offered is a beautiful antique framed hand-lettered rendition of Psalm 23, dating to approximately1895–1915. The piece is housed in what appears to be its original solid hardwood frame, likely walnut, with a decorative gilt inner molding, black-painted sight edge, and original red fabric liner.
Unlike many printed Victorian religious mottoes, this example appears to bean original pen-and-ink calligraphic work. The lettering displays variations in spacing, stroke weight, and decorative capitals that strongly suggest it was individually executed by a skilled penman rather than commercially printed.
