The pocket flaps retain their original, crisp brass US Army Great Seal Eagle buttons showing excellent, soft natural age patina. The interior neck placket houses its original period white mother-of-pearl dish buttons
This garment exhibits honest, historic frontier wear and character. It features extensive period field modifications, including heavy canvas/cotton structural patches stitched onto the sleeves and cuffs. There are prominent jagged tears at the cuffs and scattered moth holes and wear tracks along the back and sleeves, completely consistent with a true field-used 19th-century military wool artifact.
