Antique Pre-WWII Tool or Ice Cream Spade 11.5\" Wood Swastika Good Luck Mark: $54.99
Antique Pre-WWII Tool or Ice Cream Spade/Soda Fountain Scoop. 11.5” Wood with swastika Good Luck Mark. Rare, authentic; possibly a commercial soda fountain ice cream spade, 11.5 inches long. The blade is 4 inches and the wooden handle is 7.5 inches. This tool dates back to the 1900-1920 era and features a unique, historical trademark stamp on the base of its handle. The bottom of the turned wood handle features a deeply stamped swastika trademark. This mark was widely used by early American foundries and manufacturers (such as the Gilchrist Company or the Buffum Tool Company) in the early-20th-century as a traditional symbol for good luck, prosperity, and success predating later political usage. The distinct mark firmly establishes it as pre-WWII. The heavy forged blade is crafted from high-carbon steel/iron with an authentic dark aged patina. The spade has a solid, rolled metal collar that wraps completely around the wood handle for maximum leverage against hard ice cream blocks. The turned wood handle has a rich, natural grain with a smooth, dark patina. It is in excellent structural condition for its age. The handle is solid and free of cracks. The metal blade shows vintage character & minor surface oxidation/pitting. It has been lightly preserved with food-safe mineral oil to prevent further rust.
