Antique VTG French 1890 Bordeaux Petits Pois Food Kitchen Advertisement Sign Ad: $250.00
For sale: Antique J.B. Denis "Petits Pois" 1890 Bordeaux Advertisement Sign For sale is a wonderfully preserved piece of rare and collectible 19th century French food advertising. This is a J.B Denis ad for "Petits Pois Extra Fins", which translates to "Extra Fine/Extra Small Green Peas". This advert looks to have been manufactured in Bordeaux, France around 1890. This is a very rare collectible that does not pop up often on the vintage marketplace. The ad looks to be in very good shape overall. It is housed behind a protective metal casing which features two top mounting tabs, along with two hooks on the bottom side. The metal has some typical signs of wear, with some discoloration and fading of the finish. The top tabs have some slight bending, but this should be able to straighten out once the ad is mounted to a wall. The front glass of the casing has been cleaned and is in good shape with no cracks or damage. The advert itself looks very crisp overall - there is some yellowish discoloration on the bottom left and right sides of the ad, and some other very small blemishes that are only noticeable upon close inspection. The lettering remains very crisp and clear on the ad, and the colors have a good pop to them and have not faded that much. I have not attempted to take the ad out of the casing just to be extra cautious, so I am not sure if there is anything written on the backside of the ad. The measurements of the ad are approximately 6 1/4 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches tall. The total height including the upper tabs and bottom hooks is right around 6 inches. This is a fantastic collectible piece and I would love to see it go to a great new home. I guarantee fast and safe shipping. Feel free to message me with any questions. Thank you!
