Antique WW2 ERA CAPRI BELL LUCKY CHARM BOUGHT BY US SOLDIERS AND PILOTS: $70.00
Lovely item. In WW2 in Italy, US pilots and soldiers often bought this as a lucky charm and pinned it on their uniforms or attached to jacket zippers. It links to a local legend from the Italian island of Capri. Made by Italian artisans, the word Capri is hand tooled and metal is silver plate over brass or copper. According to Google AI research, the size, shape, loops lettering style, and design of bell and clapper match bell charms from WW2 era rather than being a charm from later years. Reddish brown spots are tarnish and/or areas where silver plate has thinned, showing other metal underneath. Bell has a little tiny clapper that does move. See photo with penny for scale. See all photos. Wonderful collectible from the WW2 era, also a unique jewelry collectible.
