A charming French WW1-era souvenir cushion cover.Dating to around 1914-1920. Handmade from ivory silk satin and decorated with ribbon embroidery, silk appliqued flowers and the inscription "souvenir France".The cover is edged with lace adding to its decorative appeal. These cushion covers were popular keepsakes for soldiers and visitors during and just after WW1, and are now highly collectible pieces of social and textile history. Condition overall is good for age. Some wear, light marks and discolouration to the silk and minor wear to lace (see photos).Colours remain bright ,and embroidery intact. Measures : 19 x 18 inches aprox ,lace adds 5 inches. Please note this cover is intended to lay over pillow no backing for insert pad. A rare and decorative early 20th century textile with a strong collector interest.
