Ca. 1890 Royal Worcester/Grainger Reticulated Porcelain Vase with Base, RARE: $435.00
Standing approximately 8.5 inches tall, the vase has an elegant elongated bottle form with a rounded body, slender tapering neck, and separate pedestal-style base. Nearly the entire exterior is intricately pierced with hand-worked geometric, foliate, and scrolling designs, creating the delicate lace-like appearance for which Grainger Worcester reticulated porcelain is especially admired.
The body displays several distinct bands of openwork, ranging from fine lattice piercing around the neck and base to more elaborate scrolling decoration across the central body. The restrained ivory-white porcelain allows the extraordinary workmanship and complexity of the piercing to remain the focus.
Grainger & Co. became associated with Royal Worcester in the late 19th century, and pieces from this period are particularly sought after for their technically demanding pierced and reticulated decoration.
