This knife was made after another prototype was successful. Too many times, I’ve been told to sharpen our kitchen knives, so I made one for my wife to test. Now I’ll be making a set for her, and every other woman in my family, as she loved it !The steel is 115crv3, known well in Europe as “Silver Steel” and used many years for Puukko and other Scandinavian designed knives.High carbon, 1.10 to 1.15, 12mm diameter rod and hand forged and finished and tempered to just over 60RHCThe width is quite thin, (2.8mm), yet very stout, (that’s why I added a sheath to carry) It cuts through anything so easy, but best part it doesn’t dull. This is another she liked and has been well tested !!Highly recommended to hand wash, rinse and dry. Do Not put and leave in the dryer. Silver steel will develop a grey patina which works to protect the blade from rust formation, but it can rust especially if left wet.The handle is Axis Stag from 2 separate antlers, (one weathered)” and treated to repel moisture and it helps to apply oil or wax as needed occasionally. The handle is dictated by the antler shape which is quite comfortable, no slips or cut fingers when wet.I’ve included a sheath, all hand crafted to fit this knife.
