This low-profile vessel features an elaborate carved and painted polychrome geometric design in earthy red, black, cream, and brown tones. The raised central opening and deeply incised decoration give the piece excellent dimension, while the marbled clay areas add additional visual interest.
The underside is clearly hand signed “Delmar Polacca.” Polacca is a Hopi potter from the noted Nampeyo-Polacca pottery family and is known for carved and painted pottery incorporating traditional Hopi-inspired imagery and geometric designs.
