GORGEOUS ANTIQUE 19th C. FRENCH BRONZE MARBLE MANTEL CLOCK ASTIER FLORAL FACE: $349.95
I believe this is an antique French mantel clock dating from the late 19th century to early 20th century (typically around the Belle Époque or Art Nouveau period)crafted in a distinct Louis XV / Rococo revival styleThis clock is being sold AS-IS... I do not believe it is working but can be restored or displayed as it is a gorgeous piece. The top middle has a hole where there was once some type of figure or ornament but it is no longer present. The face opens and closes with the glass insert still intact. The face appears to say \"ASTIER\" with something underneath it but we can not make it out.... it almost looks as though it is smudged/smeared. The back opens and closes easily as well. Below is information regarding what I believe are attributes of the piece. This item is very heavy weighing approximately 10 pounds 9 ounces. It measures approximately 11\"x7\"x5\".The face is absolutely gorgeous and would look beautiful displayed in a period home!Key Characteristics & Visual Details
Materials & Case: The architectural case is crafted from a veined blue-gray or green-gray marble
Metalwork: It features elaborate gilt-bronze or ormolu mounts and scrolled acanthus-leaf feet that draw inspiration from Rococo and Art Nouveau designs.
Clock Dial: The white enamel face is decorated with a delicate floral swag pattern. It features classic Arabic numerals, two winding arbors (for the time and strike mechanism), and the maker\'s text printed near the center. French clocks from this era frequently used high-quality movements from prestigious makers such as Japy Frères or Samuel MartiCentral
Floral Swag: A delicate, hand-painted polychrome garland of pink and red roses with light green foliage accents curves gracefully beneath the center arbor and above the 6 o\'clock mark
Maker\'s Mark: The inscription \"Astier\" is marked near the bottom of the dial (above the 6 o\'clock position), identifying the French watchmaker, retailer, or clockmaker associated with the piece.
