Vintage real photo postcard depicting a young girl seated on a saddled horse beside a wooden building. A large sign in the background reads “HORSE-SHOEING,” adding an interesting trade and local-business detail to this childhood portrait.
The girl faces the camera wearing a light-colored dress, dark stockings, boots, and a bow in her hair. The horse is shown in profile with its bridle, reins, saddle, and patterned saddle blanket visible. The child’s small size compared with the horse makes this an especially engaging equestrian photograph.
The setting includes grass, a clapboard building with a small window, and another building behind the horse-shoeing sign. The business name above “HORSE-SHOEING” is only partially visible and cannot be confidently read. The location, photographer, and identity of the girl are unknown.
The image combines several collectible subjects: children with animals, horseback riding, early everyday photography, and horse-shoeing or farrier businesses. The sign provides a distinctive background detail beyond the central portrait.
The reverse has a divided postcard back and an AZO stamp box. It is unposted, with no personal message, mailing address, postage stamp, or cancellation. A small circled pencil notation appears on the reverse. The exact date is unknown.
CONDITION:
Fair vintage condition with substantial photographic discoloration and surface wear. Irregular blue-gray patches appear across the image, particularly over the wooden building and portions of the horse. The photograph also shows uneven fading, scratches, and scattered small areas of white surface loss.
A diagonal crease is visible near a corner, along with additional light crease lines and edge and corner wear. The reverse has pronounced age toning and several darker brown stains near the edges and stamp-box area.
The girl, horse, riding equipment, and horse-shoeing wording remain visible despite the wear. Please examine both scans closely for the complete condition. You will receive the exact postcard pictured.
