Gold-Bearing Quartz Slab - 102.04 grams - Genuine from Sierra Nevada, California
Dimensions- 54.93mm x 47.46 mm x 18.18 mm
This 102.04 gram gold bearing quartz was found in the Sierra Mining District of Northern California. It was cut into a slab using a diamond saw blade. This is a sizable slab that can be cut or broken into smaller pieces for artistic gold ore stones or various other artistic display options. The gold was naturally formed in quartz deposits millions of years ago in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. If enough erosion took place before ore extraction, these veins of gold would break out into the rivers and form individual gold nuggets or gold flake. The gold still left in the quartz is called gold-bearing quartz or was called gold lode back in the 19th century during the California Gold Rush. This gold-bearing quartz slab has been stabilized with Opticon to strengthen microscopic fissures in the slab.

What is it? Gold was formed in quartz deposits by hydrothermal pressure within the earth\'s crust millions of years ago. Gold still found in these quartz deposits is called gold-bearing quartz.
Rarity: Less than .00005 of all gold found annually is in gem-grade gold quartz, such as this gold lode slab.
Where is it found? Underground hard rock mines in the same areas where gold nuggets come from, including regions of Northern California, Alaska, Western Canada, and Western Australia have been well-known for gem-grade gold quartz.
Beware of man-made imitation gold-bearing quartz and \"telluride\" quartz, neither of which are gem-grade natural gold lode. Only buy natural gem-grade material! Because of how rare real gold-bearing quartz is and how difficult it is to mine, there is a company that produces a man-made imitation.
