“A lifetime of dignity, service and love.”
My tribute to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. A bell made from two 1977 Silver Jubilee Crowns. These beautiful coins were minted in 1977 to celebrate her Silver Jubilee (25th anniversary on the throne). The coins are the cupronickel variety. Includes free gift box.About the coin: Front: Within a circle at center, the Ampulla (having a figure of a bird with open wings) and the Anointing Spoon - objects used during the Coronation ceremony; this is encircled by a floral border to the edge of the coin; above the circle, the Royal Crown.Back: Equestrian effigy of Queen Elizabeth II within (and partly breaking out of) a beaded circle. All around, the monarch's legend ELIZABETH · II DG · REG FD·. Translated from Latin: Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith. 1977
I make these coin bells by forming one of the 2 coins into a rounded dome for the top of the bell. I punch a small hole in the center of the other coin and form it to make the skirt of the bell. The top and the skirt of the bell are then soldered together. The punched out piece is utilized as the clapper for the bell. The bell gets a patina finish and then polished to a beautiful shine. Lastly, all of the connecting parts are assembled on the bell and secured tightly together so that they will not unscrew due to the vibration of the motorcycle.
Why Gift A Motorcycle Bell?People give bells to motorcycle riders as a good luck charm and a way to ward off evil spirits: Protection: The bell is said to protect riders from harmful spirits, that lurk the roads and cause problems for motorcycles. Tradition: The tradition of giving bells has been around for centuries.
History: The tradition may have originated with World War II aircrewmen who attached bells to their planes for safety. After the war, motorcyclist veterans continued the tradition by attaching bells to their motorcycles. How does it work?
Some say that these bells work by trapping the spirits in the bell and infuriating them with the sound until they release their hold on the motorcycle.
There are some rules associated with motorcycle bells, including: The bell must be received as a gift.
The person who gave you the bell should hang it on your bike.
You should never leave the bell on your bike if you sell it.
You should attach the bell to the lowest part of the frame.
