DescriptionThis is a Japanese flag from war time.Size: Approx.28×37.5cm
This framed Japanese national flag display was produced in Showa 15 (1940) as part of the commemorative events celebrating the 2,600th Anniversary of the Japanese Empire.
The central Hinomaru (Japanese Rising Sun / National Flag) is not simply printed. The red sun is beautifully and three-dimensionally woven from high-quality silk fabric, giving it a luxurious and impressive appearance.
The mat surrounding the flag is also decorated with traditional auspicious Japanese motifs, adding to the elegance and historical character of the piece.
This is a fascinating surviving example from a major national event of wartime-era Japan, preserving the atmosphere and symbolism of the period. It has considerable historical and documentary value and would make an excellent addition to a collection of Japanese militaria, historical memorabilia, or Japanese Imperial-era artifacts.
