Jean Manley California Pottery Prissy Persian Cat Figurine Whimsical 1940s RARE: $20.00
RARE Jean Manley of California Pottery is mostly known for her hand made pottery pieces of people. Her studio was in North Hollywood and she produced pieces during the 1940s and 50s. Her pieces are made from heavy earthenware clay and featured a whimsical flair.I have only seen one other piece like this and the applied scarf and bow was peach so I don\'t think very many were made. Whimsical \"Prissy\" Persian cat with her nose in the air. This piece has the hand modeled heavy textured body and tail. Delicate painted facial features. Applied bright green bow scarf. Glossy translucent glaze. Unglazed roughened feet with hole. Pieces were usually not signed but had a paper sticker which is no longer attached. Measures 4.25\" tall x 5\" long x 2.5\" deep - Heavy piece weighs 14 oz. The piece is not perfect. There is some crazing to the glaze which would not be unusual for a piece this old. There is a chip on one ear and a little paint loss on the front green area. See photo 2. Otherwise still a fun piece for your collection. Check out my other CAT collectibles. You may find something else you like. I add new pieces all the time and I combine shipping.
