This is a compact ring dagger, built as a single piece of A2 tool steel from point to finger ring. HFB designed it low profile for concealed carry or for mounting on a plate carrier.

WHY A2 TOOL STEEL
A2 was built for industrial dies, tools that get hammered thousands of times a day without cracking. When it came out, its maker tested it at about double the toughness of the common oil-hardening tool steels, and triple the high-chrome steels in D2\'s family. Crucible\'s own test chart shows A2 at roughly twice D2\'s impact toughness at the same hardness.
To this day, A2 is one of the three most widely used die steels in the world, and that track record is why makers trust it on hard-use blades. In plain terms, it takes a hit, holds an edge, and won\'t snap. On a ring dagger built for close work, that matters more than rust resistance.
A2 isn\'t stainless. A quick wipe and a drop of oil keeps it sharp-looking for life. That\'s the trade for a blade this tough.
