Original WWI Imperial German Pickelhaube National Cockade Reichskokarde For Sale

Original WWI Imperial German Pickelhaube National Cockade (Reichskokarde)

Up for sale is an original World War I Imperial German National cockade (Reichskokarde) for the enlisted leather Pickelhaube. Introduced in 1897 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Kaiser Wilhelm I, this black, white, and red cockade was worn on the right side of the helmet to represent the German Empire.

Condition & Features:

• Design & Structure: This is the standard enlisted men\'s pattern featuring a stamped metal construction with a central mounting hole, an inner ribbed/fluted ring, a flat middle band, and a serrated outer edge. The metal remains solid despite surface oxidation.

• Obverse (Front) Paint: The front retains a remarkable amount of its original black, white, and red painted finish. The inner fluted ring displays strong red paint, while the middle flat band retains distinct portions of aged, cracked white paint. The outer serrated edge shows remnants of the original black finish mixed with natural surface rust and patina.

• Reverse (Back): The reverse side of the stamped metal exhibits a dark, uncleaned patina with remnants of black finish. Traces of red paint are also clearly visible resting in the recessed grooves of the inner fluted section.

Please review all the high-resolution photos closely to assess the cosmetic condition, original paint retention, and authentic patina. You will receive the exact cockade pictured. This is a fantastic, honest replacement part or display piece for a Pickelhaube restoration.
