Plains Indian Native American Sioux Painted Rawhide Fringed Parfleche Bag Pouch For Sale

A traditional Plains Native Americanpainted rawhide parfleche envelope bag. The body is constructed from untannedrawhide (traditionally bison, elk, or cowhide), with a nice patina, beautiful painted designs, and long fringe on both sides.

Bag is hand-painted with a bold geometric design consisting of mirrored hourglass and diamond forms outlined in darkgreen and black. Other pigments include dark green, brick red,and yellow ochre.

Dimensions- Bag is approximately 6 wide x 6 high x 3 thick inches. Tassels are approximately 15 inches long. Overall length with hanging cord and tassels is approx 26" long.

The design and color palette are characteristic of Crow, Lakota, or Blackfeet styles from the late 19thand early 20th centuries.
