This is a remarkable artifact from the first year of the French Revolution, just months after the storming of the Bastille. • Official Registry: Features a bold, ornate copperplate-printed Généralité de Limoges tax/control stamp at the top. • Content: A complex legal act involving members of the Gaudreau and Dumoutier families regarding a settlement of 110 Livres. • Authenticity: Signed by the Royal Notary at the village of Cavaix. The document consists of two full pages of flowing 18th-century script on handmade laid paper. • Historical Context: Documents from 1789 are highly sought after by historians, as they represent the final moments of the feudal legal system in France before the sweeping reforms of the National Assembly.
