While other 1920s cocktail shaker manufacturers used rooster motifs, the stylized, finely detailed, wheel-engraved cockerel standing over a multi-rayed sunrise is the visual signature made famous by the historic silversmith firm, James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, England (1806-1992). The specific proportions of the rooster\'s feathers, the clean horizontal bands wrapping around the glass shoulder, and the tapered cylindrical body profile are distinct to the Dixon catalog templates. The shaker is topped with a hammered top (with self-strainer and corked seal) and push-on cap. The top is stamped \"PAT. 4-5-24\" as shown.Standing 10.5\" tall and 4.25\" wide (at the shoulder) this elegant English cocktail shaker has been in my personal collection since the mid-1980s. It is in excellent condition for its 100-plus years of age with minor exceptions noted. Buyer pays for handling, insurance and shipping (FedEx Ground) from 27511 (NC).
