This catalog was published by Sears, Roebuck and Co. for distribution to libraries and other depositories to be used in preserving the history of the WWII era.
This is a time machine taking us back to our grandparents time, a time of uncertainty, a time of war and national bonding. And Sears recognized the historical importance of recording the retail experience of this era for future generations.
The catalog opening pages tell the stories of the Opdahls of Minnesota and the Joyners of Missouri, sharing how their families’ endured through these times and how Sears helped with their everyday needs.
Then pages 12 through 1280+ illustrate everything and anything a person, family or business might want or need.
- This catalog is 85 years old and is in nearly archive or museum condition.
- The binding is tight and the catalog is firmly attached to the binding.
- The outside of the hard binding was covered with a clear cellophane cover. The cellophane has worn or been torn away near the bottom and the end panel near Sears Roebuck.
- The page ends are slightly darkened due to age.
- There are no missing pages, no ripped pages, no dog-eared or folded pages.
- The front and back cover published with the general distribution are omitted in the limited edition. The woman dressed in coat and hat found on the public version of the catalog is similar to the woman pictured on page 15.
