Offered here is an extra large, muscular Bulldog by Ser Jacopo with the Maxima size designation in an R1 finish with a natural, smooth briar and acrylic stem. This Bulldog also sports the Coral Dot stem insert placing the pipes year between 1983 and 1997.

The upright bowl is sans bead-lines with the equator right about dead center. The rustication moves into a smooth portion at the end with a nicely done stem. The stem has a thick briar band in a natural smooth finish between a narrow black band at the base and the black stem after. It offers character and some complexity to a pipe that doesn’t need to be flashy with its muscular shaping and Maxima grade dimensions.

For its age, it’s in great condition too. The smooth, flat rim is a touch out of round but minor and there’s no charring to the light brown briar. There are no dings or damage or signs it’s been dropped anywhere. The stamping is all there and very legible with little fade. The briar and stem combo are in great shape with no chatter and the fit is very nice. The chamber has been thoroughly cleaned and smooth to minimize ghosting and inspect it as well. It will give a long smoke too if desired with almost 2 inches of depth and 0.86” width.

I love the Coral Dot era pipes as well and those extra years can only improve the briars smoking qualities. It’s a very nice size pipe, large but not overly heavy at all. If feels lighter than I expect when handling.

The pipe has been cleaned inside and out, gently buffed and freshly waxed with block carnauba followed by hand buffing until smooth. It’s ready to smoke.

Review all photos and dimensions carefully prior to purchasing. I take pride in my pipes and all are ready to smoke. - P

At a minimum, I do everything possible to make sure the pipe is at its best and packaged well. All pipes are carefully inspected, cleaned, gently buffed, waxed with Carnauba and the stems are hand polished and oiled as needed. For a decade, I’ve put all I have into these pipes, packaging and more. I really enjoy it and my fellow hobbyists.
