Antique Stanley Bed Rock No. 605¼ "Junior Jack" Plane - 100% Complete & Original Sweetheart Era (1922-1930)
Up for sale is an exceptional, highly complete example of one of the true "holy grails" of vintage tool collecting: a Stanley Bed Rock No. 605¼ Junior Jack Plane.
Because Bed Rock planes commanded a significant premium over standard Bailey planes, very few school districts or tradesmen purchased the specialized 5¼ size (11-1/2" long body with a narrow 1-3/4" iron). This has made the 605¼ one of the absolute scarcest and most sought-after production models in the entire historic Bed Rock lineup.
This particular plane is a true estate survivor. It is being offered completely **uncleaned, unpolished, and "as is"** to fully preserve its highly desired natural antique patina and collector value.
100% CORRECT PERIOD-ERA HIGHLIGHTS:
Flawless Component Unity:
Every single component matches the tight 1920s Type 6 "Golden Era" production run perfectly. There are no mismatched or swapped parts.
The Original Sweetheart Iron:
Features the highly scarce, original 1-3/4" narrow square-top iron, clearly and crisply stamped with the iconic Stanley "Sweetheart" S.W. Heart logo and "MADE IN U.S.A."
The Original Orange Lettering:
The original, vibrant factory orange/red iron-oxide paint infill inside the recessed "STANLEY" logo on the lever cap is beautifully preserved and entirely untouched.
Bed Rock Markings:
Crisp, clean raised "BED ROCK" casting marks are prominently displayed on the toe of the main casting and across the lower section of the lever cap. The heel features the legendary "No 605¼" stamp.
Japanning:
The original black japanning enamel inside the bed is extraordinarily nice, remaining nearly 90%+ complete with only minimal age-appropriate wear/flaking near the extreme toe and heel edge.
Metal Surfaces:
Smooth sole and flat-sided walls are straight and true, presenting a handsome, uniform grey workshop patina with light surface spotting but absolutely zero deep pitting or rust scaling.
Exquisite Woodwork:
The original high front knob and rear rosewood tote are tight, structurally sound, and free of any major cracks or repairs, retaining a gorgeous original factory luster.
SAFE SHIPPING & PACKAGING:
This is an incredibly rare, investment-grade vintage instrument. It will be packed with elite care. The plane will be wrapped extensively in dense, thick bubble wrap and double-boxed to ensure it suffers absolutely zero stress or casting damage in transit.
