Description:
Up for sale is a stunning and substantial vintage museum-authorized replica of the red quartzite sphinx head of Egyptian Pharaoh Amenhotep II, originally from the Louvre Museum. This piece was masterfully crafted by Austin Productions in the 1970s using their signature heavy-duty Durastone composite, capturing the authentic weathered red quartzite texture, fine hieroglyphic/facial details, and traditional striped nemes headdress.
The sculpture is mounted securely on Austin\'s classic heavyweight high-gloss black Micarta laminate pedestal base. Weighing over 11 pounds, this is an exceptionally solid, high-quality display piece that makes a powerful statement in any study, library, or collection of ancient Egyptian art. Austin Productions permanently closed its doors in 2009, making these vintage architectural and museum castings increasingly collectible and hard to find in this weight and size.
