This MAGNIFICENT cotton 1870's red & tan album quilt is all hand appliqued and hand quilted, with an unusual, one-of-a-kind designs that includes a central floral medallion with a swag border, surrounded by floral rosettes, and a final, complex flower basket border with berries.It measures 86" X 86" and is in excellent condition, with the occasional light age spot and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall. The hand quilting is superb, with quilting around and within the applique and in elaborate floral and other dense designs in the background, all at 7-8 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the hand stitched binding is solid red, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light. The REMARKABLE DESIGN, DENSE APPLIQUE, and LUSH HAND QUILTING make this outstanding presentation quilt stand out -- it would make a terrific wall hanging!
