This is an original 1916 die-cut metamorphic advertising folder for Otis Athletic Underwear featuring their patented Controlled Belt. Distributed by the prominent textile selling agents Bliss, Fabyan & Co. of Boston, New York, Chicago, and St. Louis, this piece of paper ephemera features an interactive design showcasing the difference between a standard belt and their controlled ribbed fabric. An exceptional feature of this specific piece is the intact, original fabric sample swatch mounted on the interior panel, which illustrates the ribbed weave of the athletic garment.
A unique addition to any collection of vintage advertising, early 20th-century fashion ephemera, or unique mechanical paper Americana.
