Vintage 1948-57 American Family Beach Life Lot 4 Photos 3.5x5 B&W Gelatin Orig
Original vintage mid-20th-century American family photographs on paper, offered as a lot of four views of relatives at home and at the beach.
One black-and-white portrait shows an older woman in a patterned short-sleeved dress and beaded necklace, seated on a porch bench against clapboard siding and a doorway.
A warm sepia-toned outdoor snapshot pictures a man and woman standing closely behind three young children dressed in suspenders, shorts, and a dress, posed in a yard with dense shrubs and a stone house facade in the background.
A beach scene print presents three men in jackets and trousers walking across a sandy shoreline, two examining the ground with long-handled tools while the third strides nearby, with the sea and skeletal remains of wooden piers or jetties stretching into the water behind them.
The final scalloped-edge interior snapshot dated along the top border MAY * 57 shows a seated couple and small girl identified as Donna on a patterned sofa in a living room, with a table lamp, window, and side tables completing the domestic setting.
The photographs are printed on single-weight photographic paper with white borders; three have straight-cut edges while the living-room view has a scalloped border, and backs include plain paper, a circular blue FOTO studio stamp, pencil number 12, and a Kodacolor backprint reading KODACOLOR PRINT MADE BY EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY T. M. REGIS. U.S. PAT. OFF. AUG 2 1948.
The back of the family-on-sofa snapshot carries a handwritten inscription reading Donna 4 years Aunt Pat & Uncle Mike, while another handwritten slip included with the lot reads American Family Life set of 4 photos ≈ 3.5" x 5" as a size reference.
The lot consists of four loose unmounted and unframed original photographs only; any brass display stand, handwritten slip, or other props visible in the listing images are used solely for scale and presentation and are not included.
Actual Measurements: ≈ 3.5 x 5 in.
Condition: Original vintage mid-20th-century American family snapshot photographs on paper with typical handling and storage wear from age and use. Image surfaces show overall age toning, scattered small marks, and faint surface scuffs visible under angled light, with mild fading on the 1948 yard family group and slight silvering in darker areas of the porch portrait. Corners and edges across the lot display slight softening and a gentle curl from previous storage; the porch portrait and beach scene have small corner or edge bends and light creasing, and the scalloped 1957 sofa view shows minor edge wear but no tears or paper loss. Backs carry studio and processing stamps and handwritten inscriptions with light discoloration in places but remain intact, and the lot is offered as four loose unmounted and unframed original prints only, with any brass stand or handwritten slip seen in the images used solely for presentation and not included.
