Vintage Cold War Berlin Brigade personalized presentation piece honoring 1st Lt. Dwight H. Covington, Signal Division, 1959–1962.
Features a cast metal Berlin Bear mounted on a polished black stone/marble base with a personalized engraved plaque reading:
1st LT DWIGHT H COVINGTON
SIGNAL DIVISION
1959 – BERLIN BRIGADE – 1962
The underside retains the original Wolfgang Bob Schwarz, Berlin, Germany maker’s label.
The 1959–1962 dates make this an especially interesting piece of U.S. Cold War and Berlin military history. Covington’s assignment encompassed the period of the Berlin Crisis and construction of the Berlin Wall in August 1961.
This appears to have been produced in Berlin as a personalized military presentation or commemorative piece rather than a standard tourist souvenir.
Condition: Vintage condition with age-related wear, scratches and patina. The stone base shows prominent lines/veining and base has a repaired cracks. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition. Metal components show appropriate age and oxidation. Original maker’s label remains on underside.
A distinctive piece of Berlin Brigade, U.S. Army Signal Corps and Cold War memorabilia with excellent display appeal.
