Vintage 1960 & 1963 Sebring 12 Hour Race Button Lot - Pit Steward & Mechanic:
$395.00

Up for sale is a rare lot of three (3) original, vintage official credential buttons from the historic 12 Hours of Sebring International Grand Prix races in Florida (two from 1960, one from 1963). Measure approx. 2 1/4 inches.

These badges originally belonged to the my mother, who was a passionate sports car enthusiast and Jaguar owner in the early 1960s. During this golden era of racing, local sports car club members and enthusiasts frequently drove down to Sebring to participate in paddock displays, car shows, and volunteer track support. These official gate badges were kept as wonderful mementos of those race weekends.Unlike ordinary spectator souvenirs, these badges identified specific race personnel and working functions, such as Pit Steward and Mechanic, making them particularly interesting to collectors of historic motorsport and Sebring memorabilia.

Lot Details:

  • (1) 1960 Sebring \"Pit Steward\" Button:
Features the text:\"Amoco Sebring 12 Hour Sebring Florida\". Very good vintage condition with bright graphics, crisp text, and a solid, functional pin on the back. The 1960 Amoco credential is especially significant because 1960 was the final year of the Amoco-sponsored Sebring era.

  • (2) 1960 Sebring \"Mechanic\" Button:
Features the text:\"Amoco Sebring 12 Hour Sebring Florida\". This is the unique clear acetate window slot variant on the front used for personnel name inserts (the window is currently empty). Very good cosmetic shape. The specific \"Mechanic\" designation makes this a particularly desirable type of working credential, documenting an actual race-support role rather than simply attendance.

  • (3) 1963 Sebring \"Pit Steward\" Button:
Features the text:\"International Grand Prix Alitalia Trophy-Sebring Florida\". This official 1963 credential badge has minor age-related fading on the face, but the text is still readable and the pin mechanism on the back is fully intact. The 1963 badge is particularly interesting because the pinback credentials were not used again after 1960 until 1963, when Alitalia increased its involvement with Sebring.

This is a fantastic, authentic mini-collection with a great story that will appeal to collectors ofvintage racing, automobilia, Amoco, and Alitalia memorabilia.Together, the three badges document specific working roles at the Sebring 12 Hours across an important transition in the race\'s history—from the final Amoco-sponsored year in 1960 to the return of these distinctive personnel pinbacks in the Alitalia era of 1963.Perfect for any vintage racing enthusiast, automobilia collector, or collectors of Amoco Gas/Alitalia airline history.
