Vintage 1972 Zippo lighter featuring the iconic 1st Air Cavalry Division insignia with detailed Huey helicopter artwork. The yellow-and-black cavalry shield, military aviation design, and classic polished finish give this piece strong Vietnam War-era collectible appeal.
Historical Background:The 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) was one of the most recognizable U.S. Army formations of the Vietnam War. It was reorganized as an airmobile division in 1965 and became closely associated with helicopter warfare, using aircraft to rapidly move troops, supplies, and equipment across difficult terrain. The division served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1972, making the 1972 theme especially fitting for the closing period of its Vietnam service.
Huey helicopters became one of the defining symbols of the conflict and were central to the division’s airmobile operations. This combination of the 1st Air Cavalry insignia and helicopter artwork makes the lighter especially appealing to collectors of Vietnam-era military and aviation memorabilia.
Condition:This vintage Zippo has been carefully preserved over many years. Natural signs of age, storage, light scratches, and surface wear may be present, reflecting its journey through the decades and adding to its authentic vintage character.
The lighter is presented with the vintage-style Zippo box shown in the photos. Please review all pictures carefully for details of the artwork, finish, case, bottom stamp, box, and overall condition.
