Vintage 1983 Masters of the Universe He-Man Novelty Push-Button Telephone & Stand
Official Mattel Licensed Product | Manufactured by Fun Communications | Made in Hong Kong (1983)
Condition matters. And for dedicatedMasters of the Universe collectors, licensed 1980s household lifestyle electronics represent the absolute pinnacle of condition rarity. While millions of action figures were produced, functional bedroom electronics were manufactured in fractionally small batches—and virtually all of them were abused, cracked, dropped, or tossed out over the last four decades.
Surviving examples in this grade are exceptionally scarce. This is a collector-grade showpiece ready to anchor your high-end MOTU or retro 1980s pop-culture collection.
Key Features & Cosmetic Highlights:
- Vibrant Battle Armor Graphic: The circular upright backdrop displays iconic pre-Filmation mini-comic He-Man artwork with his battle axe, shield, and classic Maltese cross chest harness. The lithograph plaque is flat, vivid, and completely free of edge separation, tears, or fading. The circular He-Man backdrop graphic is bright, vibrant, and completely unpeeled.
- Pristine Gold Foil Hot-Stamping: The raised Power Sword insignia running the spine of the handset gleams with factory luster. The embossed gold-outlined MASTERS cradle marquee and underside OF THE UNIVERSE lettering display razor-sharp edges with zero rubbing.
- Complete Original Hardware: Comes complete with the factory-molded dual-purpose table stand/wall mounting plate and original screws intact on the reverse. No stripped threads, no sheared plastic tabs, and no wall-mounting fractures. The plastic retains a deep, high-gloss brown finish. Includes the main telephone unit base, the push-button keypad handset, the original coiled cable, and the highly elusive detachable wall stand/backplate (which is usually missing on loose units).Completely intact.
- Pristine Housing: Molded in rich chocolate brown high-impact plastic, retaining its deep original gloss with no sun discoloration, deep scuffs, or brittleness.
Operational History & Functional Disclosure:
This telephone was stored in a climate-controlled, smoke-free collector environment and worked without issue when last connected to an active landline. Because analog copper landlines have been phased out, the electronic functionality (dial tone, keypad tone output, and ringer) has not been tested in modern service. It is offered and sold as an authentic, high-grade 1983 vintage display artifact.
Archival Shipping & Packaging:
Vintage polystyrene and plastic can be brittle in transit. This unit will be packed with professional care:
- Handset cord and body wrapped separately to prevent the modular clip from touching the gold foil sword.
- Rigid cardboard support flanking the upright graphic medallion to eliminate lateral neck strain.
- Double-boxed with 2+ inches of void fill on all sides.
- Fully tracked and insured via International Shipping (eIS) available worldwide.
Functional Note (Please Read):This item is being sold UNTESTED and AS-IS. I do not have a traditional analog landline phone jack to test if it receives a dial tone or transmits audio. The internal electronics are visually clean and unmolested, but because it is a 40+ year-old vintage electronic toy, functionality cannot be guaranteed. No original cardboard box is included—you will receive the exact loose unit pictured. All serious offers are welcome and will be considered.
