Vintage 19th Century \"Sugar Devil\" Dried Fruit / Sugar Barrel Auger: $145.00
Description: Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible 19th-century antique "Sugar Devil" (also known as a fruit auger), historically used in general country stores to break up hardened brown sugar or tightly packed dried fruits inside wooden barrels.
This piece features a hand-forged iron shaft with an elegant spiral corkscrew design, complete with its original wooden T-handle displaying a fantastic dark patina.
Maker's Mark: Notably stamped with a crisp, clear, hand-struck "FOR" on the square iron collar underneath the handle. This is a classic factory cutoff abbreviation from a narrow shank stamp (such as "FOR PAT." or "FOR M'F'G CO.").
Condition: Very Good primitive condition. The iron shaft is entirely solid, straight, and unpitted. The original wooden handle is structurally sound and secure. Please see photos for exact condition details
