Up for sale is a magnificent vintage Chinese Yixing Zisha Purple Clay Teapot showcasing an intricate mythological "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" motif.
This sculptural piece features exceptional relief work: the spout is molded as a roaring Tiger head signifying strength, while the main handle forms a beautifully scaled, coiled celestial Dragon body. The midsection is highlighted by a beautifully inset decorative band accented with a rich, metallic golden-bronze pigment wash to mimic ancient artifact bronzing.
• Collector Markings: Fully stamped with dual seals. Features a 2-character oval artisan maker stamp inside the lid lip, alongside a crisp, 4-character archaic Zhuanshu (Seal Script) commemorative reign mark on the base reading "光緒年製" (Guangxu Nian Zhi).
• Internal Filter: Features an authentic, hand-pierced 7-hole honeycomb clay mesh filter behind the spout inside the pot for a clean, non-clogging pour.
• Condition: Pristine vintage condition. The dark purple-brown clay exhibits a smooth texture and a gorgeous natural sheen. Free of chips, cracks, hairline stress fractures, or restorations. The lid fits snugly and flush.
• Dimensions: Exactly 5.5" long from spout to handle (shown in photos next to tape measure).
Will be meticulously packed with thick bubble wrap cushioning the delicate tiger snout and dragon head, and shipped in a sturdy, rigid box via USPS Ground Advantage to guarantee safe arrival. An excellent choice for Gongfu tea ceremonies or vintage Asian art collections!
