This large vintage Kokeshi is named Bakushu meaning wheat harvest. She was created by artist Usaburo Okamoto. As a piece of Japanese culture, this Kokeshi doll showcases the craftsmanship and style typical of traditional Japanese art. She has a statuesque and minimalist sensibility, with hand carved wheat stalks , and a dark brown monochromatic kimono that subtilty allows the natural woodgrain to peek thru. Hanko stamp is on the bottom. This doll is in excellent vintage condition.
