This distinctive vintage African folk-art figure features a hand-carved wooden human form with an expressive stylized face, elongated body and legs, coiled metal/wire neck and ear ornaments, a feather decoration at the top of the head, and small dangling metal ornaments.
Based on comparison with documented Kenyan tourist-market carvings, this appears consistent withKenyan woodcarving produced for the tourist/curio market, particularly the Kamba/Akamba carving tradition. Exact maker, tribe, date and place of manufacture are not documented, so these are offered as an attribution rather than a guarantee.
A very unusual and decorative piece for a collector of African folk art, travel souvenirs, carved wood figures, or ethnographic-style decorative arts.
