This handsome burgundy celluloid fountain pen from Mabie Todd features a patented twist-filling 'leverless' system. The Patent No. 390585 having been granted in Great Britain in 1932, and with the torpedo shaped ends, this would place this pen to the late 1940’s.
This particular pen is fitted with a fine #2 nib, and makes for a very stylish pen with its sleek shape and gold fittings. The gold-plated trim has experienced very little wear, though most visibly on the bottom cap band. See photographs.
The pen is in working condition, with some moderate surface scratches around the barrel imprints. See photographs. The nib and feed have been removed and thoroughly cleaned of old dry ink, and the twist-filling mechanism has been paired with a large, barrel-filling sac which has been coated in French chalk for optimum ink capacity and smooth operation.

MADE of Mabie Todd’s high quality pens, the nib in this example writes with a fine and well-lubricated, inky line. It is firm, and with the fine line yet smooth operation, this is an ideal pen for a daily writer, and may even perform well on non-fountain pen paper such as Moleskine or the copier paper at the office.
Tested with Diamine Beau Blue ink, on Rhodia 80gsm Dot paper.
