Up for sale is a beautifully textured, vintage terracotta clay figurine depicting a seated monkey or primal primate idol. This piece features a striking stylized herringbone / chevron pattern across the back and head reminiscent of ancient Mesoamerican or West Mexican cultural artifacts. This figurine is coated in a rich reddish orange clay slip pigment over a dark charcoal colored earthenware body. It stands beautifully as a brutalistic or rustic bohemian shelf decor accent piece. Aprox 4.5 inches tall. Vintage pre-owned. There is a clean chip visible along the bottom edge base which exposes the interior dark clay matrix which does not impact stability when standing. Overall wear by design or age. Please see pics.
