Vintage Military Aircraft Propeller Protractor – Part No. 36D2844 – Original Wood CaseVintage aircraft propeller protractor in its original fitted wooden carrying/storage case marked “PROPELLER PROTRACTOR CASE.”The instrument is marked:PART NO. 36D2844This part number cross-references to military aviation tooling and is identified as a propeller protractor, used for checking and setting aircraft propeller blade angle/pitch.The protractor includes the large graduated circular scale, spirit levels, adjustment/locking hardware, and original fitted case. The instrument appears substantially complete based on the photos, but I have not calibrated or professionally tested it, so it is being sold as a vintage collectible/tool in as-found condition.One of the most interesting features is the original wooden case. It retains old U.S. postage stamps and a period circular postal cancellation that appears to read Seattle, Washington – June 28 – 7 PM. I have not been able to confirm the year of the postmark. The stamps and paper remnants have been left exactly as found and have not been removed or restored.The wooden case shows honest age and use, including scratches, finish wear, small marks, old adhesive/paper remnants, and general shop/storage wear. The metal instrument also shows normal age-related wear and surface marks.
