An incredibly rare, authentic piece of 20th-century art history: an original promotional pinback button from the legendary "Information" exhibition held at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York (July 2 – September 20, 1970).
Curated by Kynaston McShine, "Information" was a monumental, groundbreaking survey of early Conceptual Art, New Media, and Institutional Critique. This pin features the iconic green color palette matching the famous softbound exhibition catalog and features the precise text: "Information v. 1, no. 1., 1970, MOMA, N.Y."
Because McShine treated the exhibition catalog as an open-ended, magazine-style "international report" rather than a traditional art textbook, the pin uniquely features the "Volume 1, No. 1" periodical text.
Ephemeral items like this distributed during the 1970 show are exceptionally scarce, as very few have survived outside of permanent institutional museum archives. A must-have for collectors of Conceptual Art, Fluxus, the Art Workers’ Coalition, and mid-century graphic design history.
Measures approximately 2” diameter.
