Authentic Vintage Nepalese Ang Khola Kukri (Khukuri) – Hand-Forged High-Carbon Steel – Deep Hollow Flat Grind – Ergonomic Carved Hardwood Grip with Flared Horns – Complete with Black Leather Scabbard, Brass Chape, Sewn Frog & Both Companion Tools – 16\" Overall
Up for sale/sale is a genuine, traditionally hand-forged Vintage Nepalese Ang Khola Kukri, measuring approximately 16\" overall with a substantial 12\"+ high-carbon steel blade.
Forged in the classic Ang Khola (\"back hollow\") tradition, this blade features a massive concave hollow hand-forged into the main body of the steel, terminating at sharp, distinct primary grind lines. This creates an agile, devastating chopper with an even, honest vintage patina across the blade steel.
It comes 100% complete with its original black leather-wrapped wood scabbard (dap), brass tip/chape, stitched leather frog, and both factory companion tools.
Traditional Cutlery & Craftsmanship Highlights:
Ang Khola Hollow Geometry: Hand-hammered hollow-ground body engineered to reduce blade drag while focusing maximum mass behind the sweeping forward cutting belly.
Ergonomic Hardwood Handle: Turned from rich brown native hardwood with an extruded center indexing ring, carved forward relief texturing, and dramatically flared upper and lower pommel horns that securely lock the hand in place.
Brass Appointments: Fitted with a solid brass bolster ferrule and brass scabbard chape.
Complete Traditional Rig: Includes the original black leather scabbard with integrated sewn-in belt frog, accompanied by both original tools in their rear slots:2xChakmak (hardened edge steel/burnisher).
Physical & Cosmetic Condition:
Blade & Edge: Solid, straight, and structurally sound with an intact edge profile, well-defined grind lines, and sharp point. The high-carbon steel displays a smooth, attractive, and uniform vintage gray patina consistent with age, free of structural cracks or active rust.
Handle & Fittings: The rich brown hardwood grip is tight, smooth, and solid, but has a large crack in the butt of the piece, as well as a chip out of the rear of the handle. This went almost unnoticed, as the handle felt and remains solidly in your grip. Despite the natural feeling, the crack exists. Please see pictures for more details. The brass ferrule is firmly seated.
Scabbard & Companion Tools: The black leather scabbard provides snug retention; stitching is intact, and the brass chape is securely fitted. Both the karda and chakmak are exceptionally clean, bright, and shiny, seating firmly in their designated slots.
A complete vintage Gurkha field rig ready for an edged-weapons collection, historical display, or heavy camp use.
