Vintage Quebec Folk Art Hand Carved Wood Sailor Figure Signed Hand Painted 4.25\" For Sale

A charming hand carved and hand painted wooden sailor from Quebec, French Canadian folk art with real personality. He stands with his hands in his pockets and a big grin, wearing a white sailor cap, navy jacket, red polka dot neckerchief, and white bell bottoms, mounted on a separate wooden block base.

Quebec was famous for this style of small character carving, and well made pieces like this one are getting harder to find.

• Hand carved and hand painted wood
• Signed in ink on the underside of the base, \"Andre Deb...\" (last name partly legible) and \"Quebec\"
• We were not able to identify the carver, so it is sold as unattributed Quebec folk 4.25 in tall, on a base about 1.5 x 1.33 in. A small piece, so please check the size.

  Condition

  Good vintage condition. Light wear to the paint consistent with age, especially on the white pants, some wear to the edges of the base, and a dark stain on the underside of the base near the signature. Please look through all the photos, they are part of the description.
